The Local Court is currently suspending regular Justice of the Peace counter services at some locations, including the Darwin Local Court and Darwin Children's Court.
From 17 January 2021, the following services will be suspended from these locations:
- Certification of true copies of documents;
- Witnessing affidavits unrelated to Local Court and/or Supreme Court matters;
- Witnessing documents unrelated to Local Court and/or Supreme Court matters;
- Administering oaths unrelated to Local Court and/or Supreme Court matters;
The following services will continue to be offered:
- Issuing search or arrest warrants or the Northern Territory Police Force;
- Witnessing affidavits relating to Local Court and/Supreme Court matters;
- Witnessing documents relating to Local Court and/or Supreme Court matters;
- Administering oaths relating to Local Court and/or Supreme Court matters;
If you urgently require a Justice of the Peace, but the Local Court is unable to assist you but the information on how to find one is available elsewhere online.
