Local Court of the Northern Territory notice to legal practitioners, police, corrections and court users regarding the end-of-year reduction in service, 2023.

The following are the arrangements for Northern Territory Local Court lists for the Christmas period for the Darwin Local Court, Katherine Local Court, Alice Springs Local Court and Darwin Children's Court will be from C.O.B Friday 15 December 2023 and will resume on Monday 8 January 2024.

Darwin
Nichols Place
18 December 2023 to 5 January 2024
Specialist lists for Directions Hearings, Preliminary Examinations, Hearings, Domestic Violence, Civil/Work Health, and Mental Health will all be suspended. 
There will be a single judge presiding for new in custody's and urgent listings, with a custody-cut off time of 11am each day. 
Matters should not be adjourned into or bailed to during this period. 
 

Children’s Court (TCG)
18 December 2023 to 5  January 2024
No matters are to be adjourned to these days and any new in-custody youth or urgent applications pursuant to the Care and Protection Act will be listed as the need arises. 

Katherine
18 December 2023 to 5 January 2024
The Court will proceed via Audio Visual Link to Darwin Local Court: fresh in custody matters only, other matters should not be adjourned into or bailed to this period. 
 

Alice Springs
18 December 2023 to 5  January 2024
There will be judges presiding for new in custody's and urgent listings, with a custody-cut off time of 1pm each day.
Matters should not be adjourned into or bailed to during this period.
