Cancellation of Katherine circuit courts due to flooding

LOCAL COURT OF THE NORTHERN TERRITORY NOTICE TO LEGAL PRACTITIONERS, POLICE, CORRECTIONS AND COURT USERS REGARDING NGUKURR, LAJAMANU AND KALKARINDJI CIRCUIT COURTS FOR MARCH 2023

Due to extensive flooding, water damage and evacuations, the following Local Court sittings have been cancelled:

• at Ngukurr on 7 and 8 March 2023;
• at Lajamanu on 14 and 15 March 2023; and
• at Kalkarindji on 16 March 2023.

The Katherine Local Court will be sitting in Katherine on these days previously listed for circuit courts.
 

Ngukurr Circuit Court
All matters will be mentioned in the Katherine Local Court on 9 March 2023.

Defendants are not required to appear.

At the following circuit court in May, there will be an additional sitting day. The court will sit on 9, 10 and 11 May 2023.
 

Lajamanu and Kalkarindji Circuit Court
All matters will be mentioned in the Katherine Local Court on 14 March 2023.

Defendants are not required to appear.

Defendants are advised to contact their legal representative or the Katherine Local Court to discuss their matter.
