Local Court of the Northern Territory notice to legal practitioners, police, corrections and court users regarding the end-of-year reduction in service, 2022.
The following are the arrangements for Northern Territory Local Court lists for the December to January 2022-23 period.
Darwin
Nichols Place
The following Local Court lists will cease as of COB Friday, 16 December 2022 and will resume on Monday, 9 January 2023:
- Hearing List
- PEM List
- Mental Health List
- DV / PV List
- Civil List
The bail and arrest list will continue throughout this period. No part heard matters should be listed in this period.
Urgent domestic and family violence applications may be listed as the need arises.
The Local Court Registries will remain open except on public holidays.
Children’s Court (TCG)
Only youth in detention matters will be dealt with between Friday, 16 December 2022 and Monday, 9 January 2023.
Urgent care and protection matters will be listed as the need arises.
Katherine
The Court will deal with custody only matters (for adults and youth) and urgent domestic and family violence applications between COB Friday, 23 December 2022 and Monday, 9 January 2023. This will be via video to the Darwin Court.
Urgent care and protection matters will be listed as the need arises.
The Local Court registry will remain open except on public holidays.
Alice Springs
The Court will deal with custody only matters for adults and youth and urgent domestic and family violence applications between COB Friday, 16 December 2022 and Monday, 9 January 2023.
Urgent care and protection matters will be listed as the need arises.
The Local Court Registry will remain open except on public holidays.
The Tennant Creek Registry and Court House will be closed between COB Friday, 23 December 2022 and reopen on Tuesday 3 January 2023.
